Get away from the throngs of tourist that crowd the Tidal Basin and enjoy a unique DC experience. Inspired by DC's Cherry Blossom Festival, a pop up bar has taken over two bars in Shaw around the corner from U St. The aptly named, Cherry Blossom Pub combines Japanese, District, and Super Mario Brothers themes in order to offer a weird and whimsical time.

The previously two bars have been divided into three themed rooms; a Japanese pink-and-white cherry blossom garden, another dedicated to the Super Mario World, and a King Koopa (the boss in Super Mario Brothers) back room. Each bar serves the same assortment of themed drinks from easy-drinkers like the "tiki-esque Neko Colada" with miso-infused rum and coconut, to boozier sips such as a the "Press Start + A" with Japanese whiskey, amaro, and Cynar artichoke liqueur. The Bar also offers a small food menu with Japanese inspired creations.

If you want to get a taste of the real DC this is the Bar for you. The Cherry Blossom Pub is located at 1843 and 1841 Seventh Street, Northwest. It's Open on a first-come, first-serve basis: 5 pm to 12:30 am, Sunday through Thursday and 5 pm to 1:30 am, Friday and Saturday.

From the HighRoad Hostel DC, it is only a 25 minute walk! You can even do a bar-crawl on U-Street and make the Cherry Blossom Pub your last stop!
