Check In Requirements

Check In: Begins at 4:00pm (16:00) local time.

VALID GOVERNMENT ISSUED I.D.

Each guest must provide us with a valid government issued ID. IDs must clearly show your name, photo, and residency. IDs cannot be ripped, damaged, or expired. We do not accept student IDs, work IDs, medical cards, or social security cards. Foreign passports and IDs are accepted! USA passports and passport cards are only accepted for Hotel guests.

If you are staying in a shared dorm, you must reside 90+ miles from the HighRoad. Dorm ID Policy:

All hostel guests must provide ID which reflects residency 90 miles or further from the HighRoad. USA passports / passport cards are not accepted for Hostel guests.

Valid Card on File for Incidentals

Guests must provide a valid credit/debit card on file for their reservation. The card provided on file must be issued to the guest who is staying. By putting your card on file you are authorizing the HighRoad to use said card for charges for any incidentals, damages, or stolen items. Clean up fees for labor / damages done to the HighRoad will be assessed and charged to the card provided on file. The total charge is determined based on the extent of damage or clean up required by HighRoad staff.


Payment Methods

Cash is not accepted. All reservations are charged in advanced before check in. Cash is not accepted.


Cancellation & Deposit Policies

Any cancellations or modifications must be submitted in writing to the HighRoad directly by email.

Flexible Reservation policies:

a) No cancellation fee if cancel before three (3) days prior to arrival day.

b) Cancellations made later than (3) days prior to arrival, or no-shows, will be charged the first night's rate plus tax.

c) Payment for the 1st night of the reservation will be charged automatically at the time of making the reservation.  

d) Payment for the rest of the total price, if any, will be charged automatically on the day of arrival.

e) The credit card used at the time of making the reservation will be the card charged for payment. 


Non-Refundable Reservation policies:

a) Non-refundable reservations have a discounted lower price in exchange for being not not refundable.

b) ***A non-refundable reservation is not refundable.***  This reservation does not qualify for a refund in the event it is cancelled for any reason. 

c) Payment in full will be automatically charged upon making the reservation.

d) The credit card used at the time of making the reservation will be the card charged for payment. 

Same Day Reservation policies:

Our cancellation policies still apply to reservations made on the same-day as the arrival date. In the event that you cannot arrive for your same day reservation, you will still incur a cancellation fee equal to the first night's plus tax. Please also note if your reservation is a same-day reservation, we may not have had the chance to charge your card before your arrival. We can definitely verify your payment status when you get in.


Group Reservation policies:

Special payment and cancellation restrictions apply to Group Reservations. Any reservation or group of affiliated reservations for more than 4 private rooms, or more than 5 hostel-style beds, is considered a “Group Reservation” and is subject to the following requirements:

Group Payment Policies:

Group deposit policies slightly differ from standard reservations. A nonrefundable 10% deposit is due at the time of booking to guarantee and hold your rooms via credit card. The remaining balance is due 30 days before arrival. This remaining balance must be paid via wire transfer or physical check.

Group Reservation Cancellation Period:

If a Group Reservation consists of Flexible Reservations, a more strict cancellation policy applies as follows:

a) No cancellation fee will be due if the reservations are cancelled prior to 30 days before the arrival date.

b) Cancellations made on the 30th day before arrival or before the 7th day before arrival will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the cost of the reservation.

c) Cancellations made on the 7th day before arrival or later will be subject to a cancellation fee of 100% of the cost of the reservation.

d) if a Group Reservation was booked as a Non-Refundable Reservation, then the standard rules for Non-Refundable Reservations apply.


 HighRoad In House Policies

CHECK OUT: 11 AM. Avoid a $15 late fee by checking out on time. Failure to check out by 1 PM results in a $45 fee.

QUIET HOURS: 10 PM - 8 AM. Please be mindful of other guests during these hours. Avoid taking phone calls, listening to music without headphones, or using bright lights within shared rooms during these hours. Reception reserves the right to move quiet hours earlier if need be.

VISITORS: If you have booked a private-hotel room, you are welcome to have visitors who are under your responsibility. Guests who are staying in the shared dorm rooms cannot have visitors.

KITCHEN USE / SHARED SPACES: We ask all guests to respectfully use shared common areas. Please keep up after yourself and be mindful of others while using shared spaces. The kitchen is for everyone, so please make sure you keep your things together and clean up any dishes or messes made. Make sure you label your food with your name and check out date. We have plenty of storage space for your food items.

NO FOOD IN DORM ROOMS: To help keep guest rooms clean and free of any pests, please do not take any food or drinks into your room. Bottled water is always ok!

NO SMOKING NO DRUGS: We do not allow for any smoking or vaping inside the building. Please use the designated smoking area outside if need be. Drugs or any sort including marijuana are not allowed anywhere on the premises.

USE YOUR ASSIGNED BED: We will give you your bed and room assignment at check in. Please use your assigned bed and yours only. Do not use any other bed even if its empty. One person allowed per bed (except private rooms).

MAXIMUM LENGTH OF STAY: You are able to stay for up to 14 nights in a 365 day period when paying by the night or for less than a month at a time.

NO CURFEW!: We do not enforce any curfew, feel free to come and go as you please. Just keep quiet hours and other house rules in mind.

LOCAL TAX: Prices shown do not include the local DC hotel tax of 14.95% unless otherwise noted on your reservation receipt.

NO OUTSIDE LINENS / SLEEPING BAGS: Please do not bring any blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, etc. No outside bedding is allowed within guest rooms.

ANIMALS AND PETS: We unfortunately do not allow for furry friends to stay at the HighRoad. Trained and certified service animals are the only exception to this rule. No emotional support animal (ESA) or companion animals are allowed. ESA are not recognized as service animals under the ADA laws.

MANAGEMENT’S DISCRETION: For the good of all guests in the property, Management requires all guests to abide by the House Rules during their Stay. If a guest participates in disorderly behavior, is personally unsanitary and fails to clean up after being notified, or fails to comply with the above rules, the guest will be asked to leave at the guest's expense, and no refunded will be provided plus other costs to remedy a situation caused by the guest may be charged. Management also reserves the right to deny entry or refuse services to anyone.
